She Slangs Wood Co.
Founded by Tonda Thompson in the midst of a pandemic in 2020, She Slangs Wood was created to encourage people to be self-sufficient, fine and confident through woodworking. SSW hires Women Carpentry Majors from a local high school, Bradley Tech High, to learn carpentry while earning high school credits and good money.
Services provided are custom tables built by hand from solid wood, wooden sheds, wooden privacy fences, pergolas and various outdoor furniture and planter beds.
Tonda was recently featured on the Kelly Clarkson Show on NBC!

She Slangs Wood will be located at Valor Creative Collective. As soon as renovations are completed, there will be a wood shop and a retail store for community members to purchase items, as well as take woodworking classes.
Renovations for Valor is set to be completed by the end of May 2022.
